Chasing Butterflies & In The Garden by Siobhan Donnellan

Siobhán Donnellan is a founder member of Dragonfly Theatre est. 2007. Having graduated from GMIT in 2000 with a Higher Diploma in Film & TV Studies, she undertook a Masters in Drama & Theatre Studies, NUI Galway graduating in 2006.
In 2007 she won the Outstanding Actor Award in the New York International Fringe Festival for her role in Dragonfly’s debut play Married to the Sea, which subsequently toured Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals as well as an extensive Irish tour in 2008 which included the Galway Arts Festival.
In 2009 she was accepted into the Postgraduate Diploma in Intensive Performance Training at the Centre of Excellence, Queens University, Belfast where she performed in a number of shows including How to Beat Captain Najork which featured as part of the Belfast Children’s Festival.
She subsequently co-wrote and performed in her debut play as a writer entitled For the Birds which was premiered at Cherry Lane Theatre, Greenwich Village as part of the New York Fringe Festival 2010.
In November 2010 her first one-act play Chasing Butterflies was shortlisted for the Cork Arts Theatre Writers Week Award where the production won three awards including Best Female Actor for Siobhán. Her new one-act play In the Garden receives its premiere at the Galway Theatre Festival 2011.
Chasing Butterflies & In The Garden is the first collaboration project between Bluepatch and Dragonfly written by Siobhan Donnellan and directed by Aoife Connolly.

Tamsyn Speight is an artist and dancer based mainly in Dublin. She graduated from The National College of Art and Design, in 2006 with a BA Honours in Craft & Design (Metalwork) and History of Art & Design. She currently specialises in bronze-casting and metal-based sculpture and is very fond of the repoussé technique, which she learnt during a 6 month placement in Ecole Boulle, Paris. Her work has been exhibited at the Leinster Gallery, Dublin; ‘Sculpture in Context’ at the Botanic Gardens; the RDS National Crafts Competition, and ‘Influence’ at the National Museum of Ireland. Tamsyn also enjoys collaborating with dancers and other performers and is particularly interested in the possible relationships between the visual arts and the performing arts.
Joanne Murray is a mixed media artist who graduated with an hons degree from N.C.A.D.Her art could be described as being steeped in nostalgia and usually takes the form of sculptural pieces that combine metal, fibre, vintage materials drawing and photography.She has exhibited in places such as the Leinster Gallery, the National Museum of Decorative Arts and the National Botanic Gardens where she won the Cast Award for a work of distinction in any medium
Jane Madden holds a B.A. (Hons) in English and Drama from Trinity College Dublin and recently completed a M.A. in Film and Television studies in Dublin City University. She has also attended creative writing workshops with Carlo Gebler, Yvonne Cullen and Paul Durcan. As an undergrad Jane wrote Lip and Sot, Gonjo and Jonjo and wrote and directed The Pub, all for Players’ Theatre. Her short, He and She was performed as part of the 2010 Mamuska Dublin showcase and is currently being developed into a longer piece to be performed in the Backloft, Dublin in November this year. Having completed an internship in the marketing department of the Pavilion Theatre, Jane now works as an administrative assistant at the Irish Writers’ Centre and also acts as a script reader for Fishamble Theatre Company.
Andy Crowe graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting full–time course. Since then her theatre credits include Pining For the Fjords (Kidding Ensemble), Midsummer Night’s Dream (Storytellers), The Silk Labyrinth (Reddress), When The Hunter Returns (Quare Hawks), and Rudolph (Talisman). Other theatre credits include ‘War of The Roses’ (Whiplash) and Shakespeare In The Park directed by Kristian Marken. She has also starred in TG4’s Céart Agus Cóir, playing the part of Hannah junior and various short films, ‘Anamnesis’ directed by Mike Heneghan, ‘Sleight of Hand’ directed by Bob Gallagher, ‘Dust’ directed by Brendan Bourke and ‘Wednesday’ directed by Tony Calally. Andy can be seen in ‘Peppers Ghost’ as part of a new video installation (based on the 1916 Rising), in the GPO. She is presently a member of ReActors Agency.
