About

Bluepatch Productions is a vibrant Irish theatre company interested in experimental ensemble based work that promotes creative collaboration and cross disciplinary practice.

Reviews of past productions;

” …Connolly continues to be a stand-out director at Galway Theatre Festival, spelling out performance spaces where nuances are to be cherry-picked, deconstructed, and re-rendered in the spectator’s own theatre experience.. Donnellan’s might as a writer lies in her articulation of the dalliances of temporary lives, some to be celebrated and others not, and the devastating result of when such life is snatched away…”

” Chasing Butterflies…evocative and bittersweet..a brave and challenging new voice in Irish playwriting..excellent performances..Connolly’s direction paid tribute to the nuances and subleties which made for a wonderfully atmospheric event. Delicately balanced between hysteria and awe .

“ ..A highlight of the Galway Theatre Festival..Memory Palace bypassed its melodrama to become an ingenious exploration into symbolism itself…”

“..This collaborative ensemble has created intelligent truly inspiring theatre..”

Irish Theatre Magazine

Bluepatch’s production is extremely interesting and current. It has traces of works that trace the female reawakening to a lost and broken past, as Olwen Fouere hauntingly did in Sodome My Love and it also has parallels with works with other exciting groups such as The Company who explore the identity and memory of the modern form ”

” Portia is Connolly’s (directorial) debut and she has quite literally added another layer of mystery to the protagonists dead twin. as well as testifying to the talents of  this new theatre company.”

Irish Theatre Magazine

Connolly directed this play with an assured hand displaying a rare command of blocking and spatial awareness and employing a bold physical style which aptly reflects the heightened naturalism of the script.
